The SAMM Research Group specializes in the design, analysis, and testing of advanced mechanical metamaterials. Our research investigates unconventional material behaviors, such as auxetic lattices and negative Poisson’s ratios, using advanced computational modeling and physical experimental validation. We focus on embedding active functionalities directly into structural systems, enabling them to autonomously sense their environment, harvest energy, and self-heal. Ultimately, our goal is to optimize performance and sustainability for complex applications in aerospace, automotive, and space exploration.
